Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry Sauce

One of the few berrys actually native to North America, the cranberry is grown in water, not as a requirement, but to allow the ripe fruit to float when ripe and efficient to harvest.

The rounded edge of the can, which is typically at the bottom on canned goods, is at the top on cranberry sauce. According to a Ocean Spray representative: "The rounded end of the can is filled with an air bubble vacuum, which makes it easier to get the sauce out."

Called a "sauce" it is commonly used as a relish as well and is great with pork, fowl and lamb.
