    Many recipes out there for this one. Apples, lots of spices and so forth. God bless them, but sometimes I just want a nice cabbage side.

    What you need

    • 1/2 large red cabbage, sliced 1/4-inch thick
    • 2 tablespoon butter
    • 2 tablespoon sugar
    • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

    1. Sauté the cabbage in the butter, over a medium-low heat. it will wilt in about 5 minutes, then proceed.
    2. Add the sugar and vinegar, stir until the cabbage is coated, and raise the temperature on medium low (still) until staring to boil. Treat it gently.
    3. Cover and simmer until the cabbage is completely tender, stirring often, about 30 minutes total.
    4. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
