Milk, 1% fat

Milk, particularly from grass eating animals, has been a part of the human culture for millennia. Its constant use in the family domicile has made it nearly impossible to replace as a food ingredient, potential analgesic (not proven) and holistic health supplement. One of the few ways to get a mega dose of calcium, it has become a major source of essential vitamins as well, in its enriched form.

At DIY2 we do not advocate its demise. However, good information can assure the benefits of milk will be deployed.  We recommend pasteurized and not raw, non-GMO, and organic products be used. BUY LOCAL!. Adequate storage and attention to expiration dates will bring the best of this great product into your home.

We recommend an independent source of information such as , WebMD, the National Institutes of Health and the American Society for Nutrition

For the lactose intolerant member of your family, we recommend a careful approach. Firstly, this allergy must be diagnosed and managed under the care of a professional.medical, practitioner. In and of itself, a lactose free diet, unless prescribed, is not necessarily a health benefit in much the same way that a gluten free diet, not prescribed for the treatment of celiac disease, is not and both are a only a matter of personal choice as diets.
