Figs

Figs grow on the Ficus tree (Ficus carica), which is a member of the Mulberry family.

Figs are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps to control blood pressure. Low intake of potassium-rich foods, especially when coupled with a high intake of sodium, can lead to hypertension. As a dietary supplement, potassium rich foods are essential for the balanced intake a salts.

If you are taking a prescribed medicine for hypertension, such as Losartin, consult your doctor on any limits that may be placed on potassium rich foods such as figs and bananas,
