Hurricane Cocktail

Pat O'Brien's brews up the interesting history of their signature drink, the Hurricane. Pat O'Brien's, one of the country's most iconic nightclubs, is known for inventing the famous Hurricane cocktail that carries an interesting history. The Hurricane was created at Pat O'Brien's in the 1940's during World War II.

Ive had the great pleasure of sampling this concoction, with many friends, oft times in the Quarter in NOLA.

What you need

  • Ice
  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum
  • 2 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce passion fruit syrup
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine syrup
  • Orange wheel, for garnishng

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the rums, orange juice, lime juice, passion fruit syrup, and grenadine syrup.
  2. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into a tall, 8-ounce glass. Garnish with the orange wheel and serve.
